The area of rural eastern Washington state is called The Palouse. Known for its rolling hills and old barns and trucks, it has attracted many photographers in recent years. Unfortunately, some photographers have trespassed on private property, damaging valuable crops and annoying farmers. Some stopped by the side of the road with their engines idling, and their hot catalytic converters started fires. We tried to do none of these things. All of our shots were taken either from the public road (with engines turned off), or on private property if we had specific permission from the farmer.

These shots were taken in late July 2019. At this time of year, you have to get up before 4.00 am each day to get to a good location before dawn. I think it was worth it.
